In today's increasingly sophisticated and complex electronic devices, protecting sensitive components from vibration, moisture, corrosion, and extreme temperatures has become a critical challenge. Part of the answer lies in an unassuming material—silicone electronic sealant.

What is an Electronic Sealant?
Electronic sealants, particularly the silicone adhesive sealants we often refer to, are high-performance materials that can cure at room temperature. Their core component is polysiloxane, whose molecular structure contains high-energy Si-O bonds, endowing them with exceptional stability. Take the commonly available Sandao 704 (such as the SD704W model) as an example—this one-component room-temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber is squeezed out of a tube like toothpaste and cures upon contact with moisture in the air, undergoing a crosslinking reaction at room temperature to form an elastic rubber body. This curing process requires no heating or special equipment, making it very convenient to use.

Exceptional Properties: Why is it Indispensable?
The widespread application of electronic sealants is attributed to a range of excellent physicochemical and electrical properties.

First, high and low temperature resistance is a standout feature. Such products typically maintain their elasticity and performance stability over a wide temperature range from -60°C to 260°C, sufficient to withstand the heat generated by electronic devices during operation or harsh outdoor environments. Second, they possess excellent electrical insulation properties—for instance, volume resistivity can reach as high as 2.0×10¹⁵ Ω·cm or more, and dielectric strength exceeds 20 kV/mm, effectively preventing short circuits and leakage to ensure safe equipment operation.

Moreover, this sealant is resistant to acids, alkalis, aging, and corrosion, and can withstand ultraviolet radiation and irradiation. This means it protects electronic components over long-term, stable operation under various harsh conditions. Meanwhile, the cured elastomer provides shockproof, waterproof, and moisture-proof functions, effectively cushioning mechanical impacts.1

Typical Applications: From LED Lamps to Circuit Boards
In practical applications, silicone rubbers like the 704 series are often used for bonding and fixation of electronic components—for example, securely attaching capacitors, transistors, and other parts to circuit boards. They also serve as ideal sealing and filling materials, used for moisture-proof sealing of LED lamps, sensors, high-voltage packages, and other components, preventing water and dust ingress. Importantly, they are non-corrosive to sensitive materials such as copper and polycarbonate (PC), and comply with RoHS environmental directives, ensuring safety.
